Delicious Easy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce in 30 Seconds

June 16, 2020 by Chelsea Kram – XO&So: Vegetarian Comfort Food Leave a Comment

honey mustard dipping sauce in a clear jarThis homemade honey mustard dipping sauce recipe takes about 30 seconds to prepare (go ahead — time it!), and the result is a deliciously saucy dip that's perfect for fries, veggies, and any other dipping foods!

Some of my recipes come from months of planning. I've got a big list of recipes I want to create and I often pull from there. But other times, they come up kind of randomly, which is how my honey mustard dipping sauce came to be!

I was making my cheesy scored baked potatoes and I was out of sour cream. But if you know me, you KNOW I need some kind of dip or sauce on virtually everything I eat. So I was looking in my fridge for what might make a tasty dip and I noticed mayo and mustard. Then I saw honey in my cupboard and realized it was time to bring it all together!

Homemade honey mustard recipe

Homemade honey mustard is so good and so easy you'll wonder why you ever bothered with store-bought versions.

Ingredients

  • Liquid honey
  • Yellow mustard (or try it with Dijon!)
  • Mayonnaise (I use full fat)
  • Vinegar
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: onion powder and paprika

How to make honey mustard dipping sauce

This is probably the easiest how-to I'll ever provide.

Here's how to make honey mustard:

  • Measure your ingredients
  • Mix them all together
  • Serve!

Okay, okay, if you really want to add another step, go ahead and refrigerate it for a bit before serving it!

Homemade honey mustard recipe variations

I've made this dip a LOT, and most of the time I stick with the basic recipe. But sometimes I like to add a sprinkle of onion powder and paprika for an extra flavor boost! Go ahead and try it sometime!

What to serve with honey mustard dipping sauce

The beautiful thing about honey mustard dipping sauce is just how many things it goes with. After all, most mayo-based dips pair really well with savory dishes. So pretty much any vegetarian comfort food meal you can think of could go with a hefty serving of this dipping sauce.

Here it is accompanying my cheesy scored baked potatoes. This sauce goes SO well with potatoes!

Here are some other things it pairs perfectly with:

  • Fries
  • "Chicken" tenders (I love it with Gardein Seven-Grain Crispy Tenders)
  • As a sandwich spread
  • On burgers
  • Veggie/chip dip
